Microcredit, a strategy that has proven its impact on economic development, becomes even more relevant when considering that almost 800 million people live on less than $1.90 a day. In this context, Rotary members have stood out for their passion for offering sustainable solutions to poverty. The Rotary Foundation and Rotary members work hard to strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, with a special emphasis on supporting women in impoverished communities.
Peace is a fundamental pillar of our mission as a humanitarian organization. We believe that when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. By running service projects and supporting fellowships and peace training programs, our members act to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tensions, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.
Large-Scale Programs offer Rotarians long-term resources to implement larger-scale, high-impact programs in our areas of interest. Together, we seek to increase our impact by measuring our progress and sharing the lessons learned generated by our programs throughout the Rotary world.
